6 Quirky Things About Me

6 QUIRKY THINGS ABOUT ME

I was tagged quite awhile back by Heather and am just getting around to doing it here.  Sorry Heather.

Here are some rules that Heather posted on her blog that go with this:

Link back to the person who tagged you
List the rules on your blog
Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of your own

Pretty simple,eh? Until you get to the 6 unspectacular quirks of your own. That's tough!

So I need to list 6 Quirky Things About Me....

1.  I have to have butter on my spaghetti!

2.  I have this morbid fascination about picking my toes!  The cuticles and dry skin!  Weird I know!!  But the rules are quirky!

3.  When I am driving and I have to stop or turn I have to turn the radio all the way down to "think" about it!

4.  I sleep with 2 noise makers at home.  My circadian rhythm is off due to my job so this helps somewhat.

5.  I wanted to be a Marine Biologist my middle school and early high school years and work with Humpback Whales in their natural environment.  Didn't pursue this because I was too much of a family girl to be that far from home for studies or work!

6. I can not study in a messy space.  Everything has to be clean and in its place before I can think!

Okay so there you have it...that was harder than I expected.  So I randomly picked 6 people from my google reader and here they are...

1.  Jules at her blog!

2. Jenny at Loving this Crazy Life
3.  Mikey at Mo Mikey P!
4.  Shannon at Front Porch News!
5.  Michelle at My {Scrap} Therapy!
6. Christy at Color Me Healthy!

See You at The Pole

I hope if you have a child in the school system that you are participating in the See You at the Pole.  Typically you meet 30 minutes before your first bell rings at the flagpole and pray over your school, the country, the soldiers, etc.  Let us go praise the Lord and thank him for the wonderful teachers who we entrust our children's education too!  And for those that homeschool.......I give you props!

Homegrown Summer Survival Creations

The following pages are scraplift's from the PDF's that are provided with your Homegrown Survival purchase.  I wanted to clarify they are not my own ideas.  I purchased this program to to help me quickly get  pages done!  I have been purging through my scrap supplies today.  I hope to take some stuff up to the LSS store this week for a garage sale that is being held there soon.  It feels good to cull some of this paper from who knows when.  Back when I had to have 3 of every pattern.  Shew!  So glad I am past that!  So enough of that.  Here are my pages:

Jewelry

I have never been much of a jewelry person until the last 3-4 years.  Each year when I go to Myrtle Beach  I stop by Vanity boutique and pick up some lovely earrings and necklaces.  I love them.  They are very reasonable.  Well this year I did not make it to Myrtle Beach however I kept seeing this ladies handmade jewelry on crafters blogs. Lisa Leonard jewelry  She has beautiful jewelry.  I had the Make a Wish necklace made for me as seen on the website.

Of course with Warren & Lisa!  A reminder of my undying love and devotion to my husband.  I also got  the pearl ear rings to match.  Let me tell as beautiful as they are online.  They are even more beautiful in person!  Well Simple Mom has a giveaway on her necklace of the month if you post on her blog.  So go check it out!  You won't be disappointed.

Kenner Road

Well I just peeped over at Willow Traders and I am so far behind on posts there.  It is such a busy group that it overwhelms me.  But I noticed that there is a new kit club called Kenner Road. The name of the kit club is named after a road that one of the DT members grew up one.  Well the road I grew up on is called Burley Hollow Road.  The Burley is my mothers maiden name.  It is also the road that my mother was born and raised on.  It is where her family home burned down and she lost all of her belongings due to lightning coming through a phone line.  She lost her beautiful wedding dress and all of her childhood memories.  She was actually in Kansas at the time with her newlywed husband (my father) on a return from a tour of duty in Vietnam.  I can remember walking up my road to my grandmothers.  They put a mobile home up where the house once stood.  I never saw or knew of the house.  I only know and remember the mobile home.  I can remember granny and I laying on the sofa on opposite ends giving each other foot rubs and then playing some Bingo and eating Fudge Rounds.   I can remember trying to practice my flute and she would tell me to "put that racket up".  LOL I love her!  She could see things about people that I never could foresee including my ex husband.  She couldn't stand him.  I never came out and told her about how he was physically and mentally abusive.  Because I loved him.  But she knew deep down it all!  My grandmother passed away right after I graduated from college.  I strongly believe that she held on to see me graduate.  You see I was the first one in my family to graduate from college.  Not to mention that her and my mother both had started nursing school and had not finished and I was graduating with a Bachelors in Nursing.  Wow what sweet, dear memories!  I love you grandma!!

I am so bad!

I couldn't help myself.  A few of my fellow scrappers had to post these images on their blog plus my lovely Apple friends sent me the email of this:

So what was a girl to do?  Order one of course!  Would be nice if I could find my Shuffle.  LOL  I figured I better post some projects on here.  I actually did this mini album in February at the Scrappers Dream Vacation.  Pictures are from daughters birthday party in January of 2007.  I used a Basic Grey mini album  and Love Elsie collection kit!  I added some Queen and Co felt flowers.

Thanks for looking!  Have a "fierce" week!  Yes I am watching Project Runway!  :)

This is how you get your mojo!!

You get a kit!!!  LOL

I have heard so many references to Studio Calico kits and have perused them online a few times before.  Well I bit the bullet, so to speak, and ordered one!  Oh my goodness that has to be the yummiest kit I have ever laid my eyes and hands on.  And you may think it is for wacky reasons.  I will be the first to admit to you that I am borderline obsessive compulsive.  Or what I like to call Type A personality.  Well first off the box that it comes in is a Studio Calico Box.  :)
Next the kit and add ons are in brown paper bags and are sealed with a Studio Calico sticker.

And the products in the kit are fabulous.  Some of the new October Afternoon.  And that apple paper is delish!!

Thanks Studio Calico for giving me my mojo back.  Now.... do you have any time you can give me to be creative?  LOL

Trying to catch up!

I think to myself at least every other day that I do need to update my blog. I really do. But carrying out the action is a different story as you can tell. It seemed to take me forever to catch up from August. I was working 72 hour weeks and was at Summer Camp with our church the week of the 4th with no internet access. Summer Camp was an incredible experience. At least 24 children asked Jesus into their hearts. My daughter was one of them who was baptized at our church 8/12/08. Here are some photos from the past few special moments in my life!

Somehow these loaded backwards but I am too tired to upload in reverse.  Here is my daughter on the first day of 3rd grade.  Isn't she just adorable?

Pictures below are of Summer Camp various activities at Camp Oak Hill, NC.

The summer has gone by quick.  I have started using my Homegrown Kit and will be posting some of those pages soon!  Thanks for your patience.
